This Way Up

o "Pat Metheny Group" vai iniciar em fevereiro a digressão mundial do novo álbum "this way up" .

The well travelled Pat Metheny Group is back on the road again in 2005 after a gap of three years since its last UK visit. This time around Pat Metheny has modified the group personnel and on the group’s new release, This Way Up, has gone for one long piece that extends across the entire album. It’s something that he feels counteracts the dumbing down of music, and is a natural consequence of the direction his music has been going in over recent years.

"Im at an interesting chronological spot says Pat Metheny. More than a few times over the years interviewers and fans have posed this question to me: Are you the last old guy or you the first new guy? That´s an interesting question. It is indeed. My answer is that I think Im the last old guy", continues Metheny with a characteristic 100-watt grin." I feel much more connected to Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett, Roy Haynes and so on, than I do to Wynton Marsalis, for instance, whom I feel very little connection to aesthetically, conceptually and in terms of what the point is in music. The odd thing to me is that usually the guys younger than me now are much more conservative! "Posted by Hello

Já tinha lido sobre o novo álbum de Pat Matheny, "this way up". Pode-se ouir um dos temas em: http://www.patmethenygroup.com/.

Novidades musicais chegam do Brasil.
